Mac Haul

Mac has always been a brand that I've dipped into every now and again but don't actually own that much stuff. I've had a little list of things I'd like to try and before Christmas I decided just to go for it and get what I want.

So firstly I got the Studio Fix Foundation in the shade NW18. I've previously had the foundation and really liked it, although last time I was matched with NC15. I decided to go with a darker shade this time just from judging the colour last time, although I do have pale skin sometimes pale shades just make me look grey and a lil dead. This shade is darker than my natural skin tone but not massively that I look tangoed, just a nice amount of extra colour to look a lil brighter.

Fixing sprays are products I don't really have much to do with. I thought I'd try it since its one of them products thats always used in makeup tutorials. In my previous experience I haven't really been able to tell any difference when using fixing sprays but I'll give this one a try.

For a while I've been wanting to play with new highlighters. Highlighting is a huge makeup trend and I feel really late on the bandwagon. Powder highlighters aren't always make fave, they can look cakey and dull at times. This one look promising, I opted for the shade Soft and Gentle.

Primers are products that I'm always willing to experiment with, I think its because I haven't yet found my number 1. I opted for the Grapefruit and Chamomile, just because my cleanser contains chamomile and is great on my skin!

I have a few Mac Lippies and I love them, so I added to the collection with Honey Love. Its a shade I've noticed popping up here and here.

Admittedly I only purchased this because I read in a magazine that it was a good one to have. A nude lip pencil will never go a miss. In the shade Spice.

Samples
I always love that you get free samples with Mac purchases! I received Strobe Cream, Mascara and Primer

Reviewing all of my Foundation

I feel like I haven't done a good old review in ages, so heres a massive one. I have a fair few foundations in my collection, its a product I use every single day. New ones are constantly being brought out and I cant help wanting to try new ones! So heres a review of my whole collection, good and bad!

Nars Velvet Matte
Shade- Groenland
I wear this foundation near enough every weekday for work. Its really quick and easy to apply and blend, main reason why I like it! The coverage is easy to build so it is a good foundation for any kind of occasion. The colour is enough to brighten y pale complexion without over darkening. Only downside for me, I find it does go shiny after wearing it for a few hours. I don't have oily or shiny skin either. I always find that setting it with Nars loose powder works best and keeps the shine down!
Rating: 8/10

Delilah Time Frame
Shade- Buttermilk
This is one I spoke about ages ago when I first started blogging. This has been a favourite for a long time. Its a one that I always end up going back too. This is a high coverage foundation thats really moisturising, down side being it takes slightly longer to blend. When blended i gives your skin a porcelain affect, it smoothes everything over and looks even. It makes your skin look glowy and well looked after. Only down side, I feel like it moves around a lot if you don't set it fully or want to leave it a little glowy but nothing overly bad.
Rating: 8/10

Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow
Shade- Honey
This is a really brightening foundation, which I love! When its set properly it really wakes up your face and leaves it glowy without looking shiny or oil. For a really brightening look I really love this one. This does take a little longer than others to blend but after it leaves your skin awakened and set for the day.
Rating: 9/10

YSL Ink Fusion
Shade- BD10
So far this one is my solid fave, I haven't found another foundation that beats it! Its really easy to apply with the stick applicator and the ink-like formula its really quick and easy to blend with all tools. You skin is left looking fresh and lasts all day.
Rating: 10/10

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
Shade- 22 Beige Rose
The only low coverage foundation that I own. I love this foundation for lazy 'no makeup' makeup days. I like how this gives you a bit over colour without the heavy look of wearing foundation. I often find that this doesn't blend that easily and i normally need to add more product than intended just to make sure all my face has an even coverage.
Rating: 6/10

Estee Lauder Double Wear
Shade- 1N2 Ecru
Aw this was my very first high end foundation and I was buzzing when I bought it! I loved this foundation for ages, I would swear by it. Its the only foundation that is truly matte on its own and doesn't need overly setting. It gives a good coverage but leaves skin breathable. Only downside will always be the light reflecting formula, white face in photos anyone?? No thank you.
Rating: 6/10

Mac Studio Sculpt
Shade- NC30
Biggest foundation disappointment! The main reason being I was colour matched totally wrong making it completely unwearable for me. Yes fair play I'm a Newcastle lass and we're known for fake tan but I'm super pale, I'm more of a NC15! I've tried to mix this with moisturizer to lighten the colour, this worked on the colour but then made the foundation patchy and unflattering. Lesson learnt, don't always trust retail 'makeup artists'.
Rating: 2/10

Rimmel Wake Me Up
Shade- 100 Ivory
Remember when everyone was super obsessed with this?? Yeah I still actually own it. A good old high street blogger cult product. Still love it just as much as I used to, before I was working this was always my every day foundation. Its a nice price tag and I rate it higher than some high ends! Its a good coverage and brightens your skin. Does what it says on the tin, really gives that woken up look on a morning.
Rating: 7/10

L'Oreal Infallible Matte
Shade- 10 Porcelain
Another Blogger cult product recently. Personally it just didnt do it for me! I felt this totally washed me out. The matte made my skin look a little dead and drained, almost like I was really tired or poorly! Not a great look.
Rating: 4/10

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation
Shade- 2 Fair Pale
I love the Charlotte Tilbury brand in general, all the products are fab! This being no exception. I find this foundation a strong enough coverage without it going caky. Its really moisturizing although its pretty easy and quick to blend. I like to use this throughout the colder months when my skin needs a little more moisture. It is a creamy product so I do find it needs a little bit extra setting powder to keep it from moving around after a few hours of wearing. Generally, I really like this foundation and find it really easy to wear.
Rating: 8/10

Nars Sheer Glow
Shade- Santa FE
Another cult! I wanted this foundation for ages, remember when everyone used this one?? I had to wait  months to purchase this one, at the time I couldn't get it close to home and didn't want to buy online. I loved this foundation and wore it every day for months and months, even when it started to run out I added moisturizers to make it last longer. This foundation is really build-able coverage and great for any occasion- lazy 'no makeup' makeup or  for a night out. This foundation really brightens and refreshes your face. Its a perfect natural look that just makes your look more awake and fresh.  Its quick and easy to blend too!
Rating: 9/10

Bourjois Healthy Mix
Shade- Vinilla
At the moment, this is my fave high street foundation! The shade of this is slightly darker than what I would normally wear, this is only because I wanted a foundation thats more suited to a fake tan look. This foundation is really high quality for a high street buy, it leaves a smooth and natural finish. Its a build-able coverage and leaves skin looking fresh. I find the colour is enough to darken my skin slightly to match a bit of fake tan but nothing at all outrageous. It's really easy to blend and to work with. Really worth picking up, worth the money!
Rating: 9/10

Chanel Lift Lumiere
Shade- 14 Ivoire
My total go to! I wear this foundation whenever I'm going out or have a special occasion. It is a medium/high coverage and leaves your skin with a real quality finish, what you'd expect from Chanel! Really easy to blend and leaves skin glowing, I always add a little extra setting powder just to keep shine down. A really easy high coverage foundation to work with and its high quality!
Rating: 9.5/10

And thats it for now! Enjoy x

Summer Faves

Hello hello. It's been a long while since I've posted on here and I've now decided to come out of the dark. There was a sigh of relief when taking product photos after months, kind of the taking your bra off after a long day feeling. I think it's about time I get my blogging hat back on and kind of try again. There's a few different reasons to why I stopped but think it's about time I actually started again.

So I thought I'd kind of start simple with a faves post. So this is a kind of a summer faves/what I'm using at the moment.

Hair Care

Bleach London White Toner
I really love the Bleach London range and going to the salon would be a dream! They're the reason I started to bleach my hair. I do go to a hairdressers to get mine bleached but I use this around half way between appointments. This is really simple and easy to mix, apply and rinse which is sometimes a struggle when you're a one man band. My hair gets a good refresh and my colour kept strong, it's only around £6 at Boots and I only need it around once per month. Really great product for the blondies, check out the Bleach London range at Boots if you haven't already!

Toni & Guy Flexible Hold Hairspray
If you're like me and live by the beachy hair code this should be on your essentials list. This adds texture without weighing your hair down or making it all crispy. This is also great to add waves back in after you've brushed your hair, perfect for them early mornings!

Got2b Styling Primer
And yet again, getting them waves in. I use this when my hair is damp. It give my hair a lot more hold before styling. Since my hair is damaged I tend to use a lot of conditioning products which does make my hair soft and harder to style. I use a 50p sized amount and run it through my hair with my fingers then I'm pretty much good to go.

Toni & Guy Damage Repair Intensive Conditioner
I've used this every time I've washed my hair for months now. It has now became an essential for me. If you have any damage to your hair or if you just like to keep the condition up this is deffo a one to try. I swear by it. This helps keep the split ends to a minimum, repair the bleach damage and keep the shine.

Noughty To The Rescue Shampoo
I've only recently started using this and a big thanks to KMI Brands for sending it to me! This is 97% natural and helps to restore your hair. I'm a massive fan of the double wash so first I use a really small amount just on the roots to remove oil and dirt, rinse and then use about a 50p sized amount and put the product all the way through. This really gives your hair a good cleanse and really does remove all the dirt but isn't harsh on the hair.

Perfume

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess
Everyone and everyone's Mam has Bronze Goddess, including me! I've started to wear this everyday whereas before it was kind of every once in awhile. Perfect summer scent, I think everyone has heard of this one and please always know what I'm wearing. It isn't too pricey and is great for a light every day smell.

Marc Jacobs Decadence
This is a new one for me. I got this as a little treat end of trip airport purchase. Now this one is my every once in awhile special perfume. I'm not massively into perfumes like I know a lot of people are so this was a bit of a plunge for me. This is a very unique smell and a gorgeous bottle! This smell is stronger so you only a small amount is needed.

Skin Care

The Body Shop Camomile Cleanser
The Camomile cleanser has been a solid fave of mine for a long time now. It's so easy to remove makeup without the irritating scrubbing. Its really easy on the skin, it gives your skin a gentle cleanse but still removes makeup and dirt. It washes easily and doesn't sit on the skin afterwards and most importantly doesn't cause my skin to break out.

Clinique Moisture Surge
Yes its a small little box. I was given this sample when I made a purchase in Douglas in Amsterdam. I've used it until every bit was used and I have a full size one on order. This is a great pick me up for skin. Whenever its my skin is looking a little dull or dry I apply this and it moisturises and refreshes.

Makeup

The Body Shop InstaBlur
An oldie but goody. This was my every day for ages but I kind of tried other things but now I've went back and I'm confused to why I ever stopped using this.  The only primer that actually does blur out pores and imperfections, it smoothes out skin and leaves it looking soft without applying any makeup. When applying makeup over you can feel it sticking, which is something i do personally like, I have when it feels like it just mixes in together rather than on top of. It keeps makeup on pretty much all day(unless you're pulling an all nighter). It doesn't gather in places and keeps foundation smooth.

Anastasia Beverly Hill Powder Contour Kit
I got this whilst visiting Amsterdam and I now use it every single day. I love the shade banana, before this I always stuck by the transparent mattifying powder whereas this one is a yellow shade. The yellow shade really brightens and warms up my skin. It sets my makeup and mattifies it without it looking dull and flat. I also use all of the bronze shades, I don't really have a fave I just kind of mix the three. They're my everyday contour look/

Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette
I've had this palette for a while now and the reason that it's in my faves now is that I wear 2 shades from this palette every weekday for work. I use the shade 'Zone' and 'Black Out'. These are both matte shades and together create a subtle everyday smokey eye. Like all Urban Decay shadows, the colour is strong and really long lasting!

Topshop Cream Blush
This summer I've really tried to keep away from a totally matte base and go more glowy. I've found that a cream blush is really good for that. I love the Topshop Cream Blush in the shade Head Over Heels. It brings a bit more life into your face without being overpowering and overly shiny. I apply with my fingers then blend out with a fluffy brush, really simple and takes no time!

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
I've had this brush forever and ever so it sort of found its way to the back of the pot. I started using it again and loving it again. No other brush that I have can blend foundation as easily as this one. Its super soft and an essential in my brush collection.

Mac Upward Lash Mascara
The thing I really like about this is the short applicator, it allows me to build up length and volume in just the areas I need rather than all over.

And that is it for now. I've finally came back from the blogging dead.
Thank you very much for reading!

Haul | This Week

The amount that I go shopping is getting ridiculous I know, so here what I've been buying this time..

Urban Decay

Gwen Stefani Pallette

The variety of colours is what I got this palette for. I love the browns and neutral shades but I also really love the burgundy shade, the mixture or shimmer and mattes and Urban Decay black eyeshadow cannot be beaten. As for the blue and pink shade, I'm not sure what I could use these for but who knows...

Mac

Ellie Goulding Collection

Ellie Goulding always has gorgeous makeup  so I got very excited when I heard about her line for Mac. I bough the-

And while I was in Mac, I bought the lipstick 'Whirl' after loving Velvet Teddy. Buy online.

Christmas Beauty Haul

Happy New Year and hope you had a lovely Christmas!

New year, new makeup, new skin routines.

Urban Decay

Naked Pallette

A total classic. I received the Naked 2 pallette for Christmas 2014 as a gift so I wanted to try the original. I looked at all palettes, i love the Naked 2 I only ever wear brown/bronzey/neutral shades, so the Naked 3 and the Naked Smokey didn't scream out as something I'd love, so original it is.

Concealer

Something I've saw in a lot of bloggers/vloggers tutorials for under eye highlight. I have this in the shade 'light neutral'.

All Nighter Setting Spray

A one of them products I've always wanted but never got round to buying, so Santa picked it up for me.

Charlotte Tilbury

Magic Foundation

Gift card spending made me do it... Charlotte Tilbury is a new brand for me, I've only ever had a lipstick from the brand but I've read good things about this foundation, so worth a try.

Mac

Matte Lipstick

My first ever Mac lipstick so I played it safe and went for the ever so popular Velvet Teddy and it's my favourite!

Topshop

Glow Pot

Highlight, highlight, highlight....

Estee Lauder

Bronze Goddess

My favourite perfume! It the smell of holidays and summer, perfect for winter eh.

Liz Earle

This was a Liz Earle gift set, i haven't used it enough to properly comment on it. But as a first impression, these products have seemed to help my skin, particularly the Instant Boost Skin Tonic and the Skin Repair Moisturiser, I will do a proper review of these products after I've used them for a good length of time.

No7

Probably my most used Christmas present. My No7 cleansing brush. This has improved my skin massively, I use this daily(lightly) it has really cleared my skin. The No7 cleanser really breaks down makeup easily and makes my skin feel super clean and soft. But again, a better review of these will come later after I used it for a better length of time.

Thanks for reading and again, hope you had a lovely christmas!
